Make a Cape for Halloween Costume

Use for a Devil- Witch - Wizard - Princess - Vampire Costume

Supplies you will need:

A square of any fabric about 115 cm x 115cm (45" x 45")

130 cm (51") of 10mm (3/8") wide any satin ribbon.

Directions

Finish all four sides (unless one or two sides are selvage edges - you can leave them as they are) of the fabric by narrow hemming them so that no raw edges are showing.

To make the casing, measure and mark a line, on the wrong side of the fabric, 38cm (15") down from one side.(it's best to do this down from an edge with a selvage edge.)

Fold fabric, right sides together, along this line and press. Now stitch a line 2cm (3/4") from the pressed edge to form the casing.

To make the hood, bring the right sides of the two corners above the casing together and stitch a narrow seam.

Use a safety pin to weave about 130cm (51") of ribbon through the casing.

**tip**:thread a bead onto each ribbon end and knot it in place to prevent the ribbon from pulling through the casing when the cape is being taken off.
Pull the ribbon to gather the neck area and tie it around your child's neck.

**tip** place a toggle on the ribbon so you can pull up the cape to a comfortable position and this way it won't come undone and fall off.
Place the hood over her head and roll it back until it fits comfortably.

**note**
-I have made this for Amanda for Halloween. I have also made this for Sarah as witch. I just used black fabric instead of the red. You could also use white and make her a princess or a bride.
-this is a very easy pattern to use and they turn out just fabulous, really nice and roomy.
-to make a wizard just use the same pattern but use black fabric.
