Make a Cranberry
& Popcorn Garland to enjoy this Holiday Season and share with the Birds.
Sometimes the
simplest decorations are the most beautiful. This gorgeous garland
is made using popcorn and fresh cranberries. It is the perfect
Christmas craft activity to do with children, because snacking on the
ingredients is just as much fun as creating the finished product.
Using waxed dental floss on a sewing needle, string through ten pieces
of popcorn followed by three fresh cranberries. Very young
children may do better handing an adult the ingredients to string as
opposed to using the needle themselves. Change the popcorn to
cranberry ratio to create the desired look. Once completed hang
the fresh garland on outdoor trees or bushes. Not only will the
visual effect by stunning to passersby, it will be great fun for the
children to peek out the window at the birds and squirrels nibbling on
their creation. An alternate idea is to use dried cranberries
instead of fresh fruit to create a longer lasting piece. If stored
carefully in an airtight container, the dried cranberry and popcorn
garland will be usable the following year. Although children
of all ages can help with the projects, adult supervision is
needed. Creating decorations with a child is a wonderful gift of
time and interaction. Including those crafts in the home
holiday decor gives value and importance to a child\'s creations.
Enjoy the time spent away from the hustle and bustle of holiday crowds
and spend precious time with the ones who mean the most.
