About windsocks
The history of windsocks goes back to ancient times, there are records of windsocks in Roman times.
Used to determine wind direction, wind socks are very handy devices. In Japan windsocks were used to celebrate Boys Days,
an annual Japanese event held on the fifth day of the Chinese calendar’s fifth moon.
Each household would string a carp shaped flag (koinobori) outside their home, one for the father and each son.
Carps symbolize strength. The koinobori were various colors usually black for the father, and red for the oldest son.
