Visit Brown’s Island on Friday for the Friday Cheers Concert Series or attend one of the many festivals, such as the Earth Day Festival or one of Virginia’s biggest festivals, the Richmond Folk Festival held in the fall on Brown’s Island.

Brown's Island is a man-made island on the James River in the heart of Richmond, Virginia. It is surrounded by the Haxall Canal. James River Park is located on the island, it is a popular venue that is a popular venue for outdoor concerts and festivals every spring and summer. Outdoor events which are held include the Earth Day Festival and the Friday Cheers Concert Series. In the fall, Brown’s Island hosts one of Virginia's largest festivals, the Richmond Folk Festival, which has over 200,000 people attend each year.

In addition to a music venue, it has lovely walkways. Take the one which heads south to the old VEPCO Levee and the other one heads north to Brown's Island Dam. From Brown’s island, you will have an excellent view of Belle Isle, the Manchester Bridge, and the ruins of the Richmond and Petersburg Railroad Bridge. Truly a lovely spot for listening to music or a stroll along the river.
